The Sustainability Card™ ranking system has been tailor-made for this service. Its core processes have been heavily informed by The Green CRED Checklist developed by the Total Environment Centre Inc and its Green Capital corporate sustainability program in 2008, and made available for general use subject to copyright recognition.

Our system is designed to help in eliminating ‘greenwashing’ claims by product marketers and to allow more sustainable products to rise to the top within our Offers section, thus helping consumers to make informed decisions about purchases and help them to buy more sustainably.

The three levels that products and services may fall into are as follows:

BLUE – These products come with our highest endorsement because they have their sustainability credentials tested and passed against our ‘Special Blue Report’ independent process.

GREEN – These products have gained approval or other recognition under independent and/or third party processes relevant to the environmental or sustainability claims they are making.

PARTICIPANT – These products have self-declared the claims they are making and their credentials according to the requirements of our processes.

All information provided by participants is reviewed by independent sustainability experts and tested against our guidelines and processes.

Like sustainability, this process is on a continually evolving journey of improvement and will become more rigorous as it develops over time. Perhaps one day our ranking system will set the benchmark by which all products are evaluated.
